Somewhat in homage to his infernal heritage, however, he is most proficient -- even somewhat of an authority -- in dark magic, having become self-taught through the acquisition of countless grimoires, books and texts deriving from Hell after taking over his father's realm and its associated artefacts. As such, Daimon has mastered and has great command over black magicks, and is capable of casting many spells of varying magnitude, far too abundant to list, and can also control and manipulate magical and mystical forces to his will. As the Ruler of a Hell dimension and a member of the Hell-Lords, Daimon's power has grown inexplicably, putting him in rank with some of the most talented and skilled sorcerers on the planet. Mystic Blasts/Bolts: Generating concentrations of mystical energy of varying power and forceMagical shields: Can generate and erect powerful forcefields and screens around himself and others that are resistant to physical and magical attacksAstral Projection: Capable of mentally projecting his soul or life essence in order to traverse space without adhering to the laws of the physical world. While in astral form, Daimon's physical body remains in a trance-like stateTeleportation: Capable of utilising local magical energies to transport himself through space from one place to another. Teleporting across short distances is usually more taxing, while interdimensional travel is less so. Daimon is also capable of opening portals between Hell and Earth with little ease given his demonic heritage.Spellcasting: Like most sorcerers, Daimon has knowledge of countless spells of varying power and magnitude which allow for equally countless effects. Such magic requires reciting incantations or chanting words/phrases in the native tongue spells are written in.Conjuring: Able to conjure objects/materials/beings at will. Necromancy: As per the nature of his powers, Daimon has some knowledge of necromancy and is versed in the magic of the dead as it falls under the wider umbrella of the dark arts.Objects, Totems and Artefacts As the Ruler of a Hell dimension, Daimon possesses a vast library of books on demonology, the occult, and the dark arts, as well as powerful arcane objects. Some of the most powerful and well-known are in his possession (or under his protection, more likely), especially those more relevant/associated with the Underworld. Netheranium Trident of Satan: Daimon wields a powerful trident of ancient, demonic origin made from netheranium, a metal unique to his realm with psycho-sensitive properties. Through his trident, Daimon can amplify his magicks by channelling his soulfire/mystical energies through it, projecting them offensively. By projecting soulfire through it, Daimon can fly and levitate for short periods.Demon-Drawn Chariot of Satan: A mystical chariot pulled by three demonic steeds (Hecate, Amon, Set). Merely ceremonial within his dimension.Grimorium Verum: A vast, legendary, ancient grimoire containing an assortment of spells, information and the history of various disciplines of Maleficarum. It is bound in flesh and considered one of the most important, dangerous and powerful grimoires of the dark arts. Malleus Maleficarum: The most important text of demonology containing extensive information on the hierarchy of all Hell's realms, demons, witches, and other malicious supernatural entities.Book of Fire: A detailed grimoire on magic often sought for its specialist spells relating to exercising spirits as well as an array of offensive spells against demonic entities.Objects, Totems and Artefacts Through his demonic heritage, Daimon is not just capable of wielding dark magic, but also an array of other abilities unique to those of the Infernal Realms. While in his own realm, these abilities become astronomically more powerful and virtually limitless, by way of the demonic nature of his soul and as monarch of his own Hell dimension.Soulfire: Capable of generating and manipulating soulfire (also known as 'hellfire'), a mystical fire that does not physically burn victims, but causes excruciating pain within living beings as it essentially attacks their life force. Daimon can also use this ability as blasts of concussive force. Demonically Enhanced Physiology: Empowered by the demonic nature of his Darksoul, Daimon possesses greater strength, enabling him to lift or press at maximum 750 pounds.VulnerabilitiesAs the ruler of a Hell dimension, Daimon commands vast power in his own realm, but is somewhat weakened when on Earth or other locations. As well as this, despite his magical training and the various gifts afforded to him through his heritage, Daimon is still mostly human, enabling him to perish by conventional means. He is also susceptible to the same vulnerabilities as other humans when not magically protecting himself, and must sleep, breathe and eat in order to survive.Aside from these weaknesses, Daimon is also at risk of impairing himself or even killing himself following repeated mystical expenditure. Unless he is within his own realm, he is still part mortal, meaning that spells of larger magnitude and repeated use of magic does take its toll.SkillsRuler: As the ruler of Tartarus, Daimon has access to vast resources and influence, including an army of demon hordes, as well as the raw materials, artefacts and economy of his realm.Diplomacy: As a Hell-Lord, Daimon is by default a permanent member of The Devil's Advocacy, a council of prominent rulers of various aspects and dimensions of Hell that meet in the sub-basement of the Infinite Embassy, imbuing him with an abundance of experience in diplomacy, especially in the fragile relationships and affairs of the Underworld.Expert Demonologist: Through his heritage and birthright, Daimon has amassed vast knowledge of the nature and functionings of Hell, the demonic hierarchy, as well as other subjects pertaining to the Infernal Regions, making him a world authority on all things demonic.Investigator: As an occult investigator, Daimon is skilled in detection, research and profiling.History In the guise of a human man, an ancient demon named Marduk Kurios marries and impregnates a human woman, Victoria Wingate, who later gives birth to Daimon Hellstrom in Fire Lake, Greentown, Massachusetts. Enjoying the various trappings of their privileged, WASPish existences, the Hellstroms lead ordinary lives until when Daimon is a young teenager, Victoria witnesses a dark ritual sacrifice being performed by her husband, involving her younger daughter Satana. Victoria is driven insane by the incident and becomes institutionalised, leading to Daimon and Satana being rehomed in separate orphanages when the true nature of their father's demonic nature is revealed. Satana is later lured to her father's Hell dimension where she trains in the dark arts and subsequently defeats Marduk. Daimon enters a monastery and becomes ordained as a priest, later inheriting his father's mansion. On visiting the property, he discovers his mother's letters which reveal the true nature of his birth and is contacted telepathically by his father who summons him to his dimension. Upon travelling to Hell, Daimon is lured into serving his father's bidding, but instead rebels and leads a demon horde to attack his father. On leaving, he manages to steal his father's trident and chariot, vowing to stand against Marduk's evil until his eventual defeat. Upon his return to Earth, Daimon styles himself as the Son of Satan and fights against demonic evil, maintaining his public identity as an occult investigator. Later, Daimon confronts his father and engages him in battle, proving triumphant following years of learning magic. Daimon then retires as an occult investigator and becomes a demonologist. He then assumes control of his father's realm and amasses a vast amount of arcane knowledge, becoming one of the world's leading authorities on everything demonic. He later restores order in Abaddon and is invited to the Devil's Advocacy at the Infinite Embassy. After receiving the Black Halo, Daimon is crowned as the legitimate ruler of Tartarus. Following this, Daimon's prominence in Hell grew, and with it, his power. SampleNightmare. It’d been a long time since he’d heard that name.Whispers amongst the members of the Devil’s Advocacy had insinuated all sorts of things as far as the demon’s disappearance was concerned: some members, for example, speculated that his daughter, Dreamqueen, had avenged her mother’s death during childbirth labour by forcefully taking his realm and depriving him of sustenance, while others merely mused about the premature arrival of his prophesied end. Irrespective, the gossip was as pointless as Daimon had first expected; a call had come in about a young boy who hadn’t woken up from his sleep for a month who’d previously complained of a strange man with a manic grin visiting him in his dreams. From then, everything was as irrelevant as he initially deemed.Standing above the sleeping child between his frantic parents, Daimon crossed his left arm over his chest, resting the elbow of his right upon it, fist tucked underneath chin, two fingers tapping his cheek. With a low, monotone ”Hm,” He turned his back to the slumbering boy, lowering his arms and clasping then together underneath his stomach. ”Your son appears to be afflicted by something of a common pest,” He taunted, almost as if the entity could hear him. Of course, it couldn’t -- the demon had by now woven any number of intricate nightmares, each layered atop the other with an assortment of insidious horrors to torture his prey. The child’s fear, after all, was its only concern -- how else was it to fester enough strength to reconstitute its former majesty?Facing the boy once more, he unfastened the clips of the briefcase that laid on top of the bedside cabinet, opening it to retrieve a black candle, a vial of sage-infused water, and a box of matches. Placing each item on top of the now-closed briefcase, he picked up the box of matches, taking one out of the tray and struck it against the side panel, igniting a flame which he then brought to the candle wick, lighting it. Upon becoming aflame, the light in the room dissipated, bringing forth an electrical outage that left the entire apartment in darkness. The boy’s parents gasped in distress as the flame of the candle turned green, the wax melting quickly on the briefcase, slowly spreading across the surface in the shape of a pentagram. Clearing his throat, he tucked his wedding ring finger down on each hand, raising both palms toward the child while reciting an ancient dispelling spell from the Text of Tantilova.”Xes ya daelabbi aem tantilova, esaeu ona qae chowa. Xes ya daelabbi aem tantilova, esaeu ona qae chowa,” He chanted, a strong breeze emanating forth from the sleeping child who then shot up, eyes still closed, before opening his mouth and screeching a spine-tingling shrill of such high pitch the glass of water on the cabinet smashed into thousands of fine shards. When it ceased, his parents had since succumbed to unconsciousness, overwhelmed by the nature of what they were witnessing. ”Really, Nightmare. You've become docile in your old age,” Daimon scoffed indifferently, removing the cork from the vial of sage water and pouring some on the surface of the briefcase, dampening his fingertip in the pool and drawing a horizontal line across the child’s forehead. Following this, he then pressed the same finger into the heat of the flame of the candle, igniting his entire hand with a flickering, emerald flame, slamming his palm against the line of sage water he’d previously embalmed the boy’s head with.”XES YA DAELABBI AEM TANTILOVA, ESAEU ONA QAE CHOWA.” Suddenly, a large cloud of buzzing, black mist poured from the eyes, ears, mouth and nostrils of the demon’s host, leaving him in a hysterical panic on the bed. As it formed a coherent mass and swarmed toward Daimon, he pinched the wick of the candle, snuffing the now ordinarily coloured flame between his index finger and thumb. With an underwhelming hiss, it ceased to burn, a waft of smoke slowly floating into the air as the mist vanished into nothingness. There was something suitably underwhelming about the demon's extraction -- Nightmare had always been something of an overrated disappointment among the Advocacy -- and behind the indifferent expression that adorned Daimon's youthful face, he was, truthfully, delighted by the fact that he had so adequately seen to the exacerbation of the creature's banishment. Lowering his eyes to the child, he nodded, picking up the empty vial and the candle, placing both on the cabinet as he lifted his briefcase. "It's over," He muttered, packing away his 'tools' before clipping his briefcase together and rubbing a hand on the boy's head. "Your parents, however, will remain unconscious for an unspecified amount of time." The boy -- still shaken -- managed a stuttered "Thank you,", and with a faint smile, Daimon stepped over the unconscious bodies of the boy’s parents and promptly left the apartment.
