Brotherhood of Mutants - Overview:

We aren't equal to humans, and we shouldn't be...we should be above them...

When he was young, Erik Lehnsherr experinced mutant enslavement and torture in the independent nation of Genosha, but after years of torment, he finally was able to use his powers, some of the strongest ever know to lead a revolution and win. However, still seen as a terrorist ultimately for what he did, he had to flee as it took decades for change to occur in Genosha with all that had been done.

Erik spent the next years traveling the world where he would meet Charles Xavier and form a school with him (see X-Men). However, in 2011, after their differences in philosophies lead to a boiling point, Erik Lehnsherr departed the Xavier Institute to form a group of mutant supremacists in his own image which became known as the Brotherhood of Mutants.

After five years of working for mutantkind around the world, often in conflict with Charles' X-Men, they decided to go to Genosha. When they returned, the public consciousness came to their side as Erik Lehnsherr was hailed as a hero. Since then, the Brotherhood have found a safe haven in the nation of Genosha, from which they still do some pro-mutant activity or fight anti-mutant groups, but they have settled down to some degree, focused on turning Genosha into a land for all mutants to be free.

Dominikos Petrakis / Avalanche (available)
Fred Dukes / Blob (available)
Lorna Dane / Polaris (available)

The Ravagers - Overview:

We are thieves and pirates, but we don't eat people...usually...

A group of theives, pirates, and scavengers, and just in general a bunch of rough people trying to make their way across the cosmos, the Ravagers don't find themselves to really be good or bad so much as they are selfish. But they are still a tight-knit group of people despite that. They also have some semblence of honor and a code they follow.

In 1988, abduct Peter Quill to take him to his father but upon realizing how young he was, decided instead to make him one of their own rather than take him to whatever life awaited him. After he grew up, he went his own way, but he hasn't lost connection to them, meaning the Ravagers sometimes wind up helping the Guardians of the Galaxy, Quill's new team/family.

Current Roster:

Stakar Ogord / Starhawk (available)
Aleta Ogord / Lady Starhawk (available)
Martinex (available)
Charlie-27 (available)
Krugarr (available)
Mainframe (available)
Yondu Udonta (available)

Former Members:
Peter Quill / Star Lord (currently part of the Guardians of the Galaxy)

Notes:

No characters are allowed to join the Ravagers without an IC recruitment except for Star Lord. If you wish to apply for one of these characters as a member of the GOTG, you can. If you wish to apply for one of these characters outside of the Ravagers or GOTG, please talk to Staff.

HYDRA - Overview:

Cut off one head, two shall take its place...

In the 30s, Johann Schmidt, a genius scientist, ahead of his time, formed HYDRA, a high-tech science division within Nazi Germany, and captured Abraham Erskine to work on a super soldier serum for the Nazis. In 1940, Schmidt injected himself with the serum prototype, which disfigures him, turning him into the "Red Skull". Obssessed with mythology and the cosmos, The Red Skull, stole the Tesseract (which houses the Space Infinity Stone).

Using it, he gave HYDRA science a quantum surge of knowledge and power. In 1945, Red Skull and the hero Captain America do battle in a large airship with Tesseract-charged bombs meant to start the world anew. The Tesseract goes out of control and sends Red Skull through a portal into the unknown. In order to stop the airship, Captain America willing goes down with the vessel.

HYDRA is largely torn apart in the wake of World War II. As the peacekeeping organization SHIELD grows, HYDRA is rebuilt in the form of sleeper agents within SHIELD and small covert sects of researchers, scientists, and powerful businessmen.

In 2013, SHIELD discoverd the HYDRA infiltration and their hidden survival and growth across the decades. HYDRA attempted to take control of all of SHIELD’s powerful assets and launch prototype helicarriers that could kill millions in minutes but are stopped by SHIELD. Fractured by the reveal and failure, HYDRA groups begin fighting both each other and heroes, primarily tangling with SHIELD and the Avengers.

Eventually, two factions of HYDRA emerged, the rest consolidated behind these two women:
  • The granddaughter of Red Skull, Sinthea "Sin" Schmidt, the oft-referred "princess" of HYDRA that is leading the old regime, believing heaviliy in mythology and the cosmos holding power like her grandfather.
  • Ophelia Sarkissian, also known as HYDRA’s elite assassin Viper, leads the modern SHIELD-inspired tactical forces that believes technology and science will eventually control the world and they want it to be in their hands when it does.
These two factions of HYDRA are in an intense conflict with one another and battling each other for resources across the world.

The Black Order - Overview:

The galaxy shall be reshaped, a path of destruction carved so deep it will create a river of blood...

Thanos. His very name strikes fear into most of the known galaxy. He is an Eternal, one of the few unusual god-like races of the galaxy, much like the Asgardians. Not just any Eternal, Thanos is a rare Deviant Eternal, a mutant by human standards. With strange skin and unnaturally powerful, he was formidable as a youth, but centuries of bionic enhancement and tapping into his natural mutant enhancements has made him one of the single most powerful beings in the universe. Brilliant, strong, able to channel cosmic energy through his body as if it belonged there, his age and experience has only added to these qualities. Though he controls many worlds, most worlds he conquers he leaves nothing behind.

A complex being, his true motivations and goals, his true beliefs and feelings are largely unknown. He has killed millions and let millions survive. He captures survivors of worlds and trains them to be killers, but refers to them as his children. He worships Death, and he seeks the power of the Infinity Stones, six powerful gems that have been showing up across the galaxy in the recent decade after centuries or millennia of being dormant. He is currently obtaining the Infinity Gauntlet, after which he will seek the gems directly.

Thanos is supported in his struggles to conquer the galaxy by his Black Order, individuals he has managed to ally himself with, and in rare cases, some could call his only real friends. His "children" are also among these individuals. They stand by his side through everything and act as his agents. He listens to their advice and gives them commands. These are the only people who can talk back to Thanos without fear of repercussions, and even then, repercussions in the form of dangerous missions sometimes come. The difference between these people and any of Thanos’ other operatives is that every member of The Black Order comes back. Though they have lost battles, the members of The Black Order have always won the wars.

Thanos and the Black Order reside on the Sanctuary base, a complex base that uses asteroids and breathing spheres as well as metallic structures. The Black Order helped create the Chitauri army that assaulted Earth with Loki in 2010, and a couple resemble them in appearance. Not much is known about the individuals of the Black Order at this time as few live to even speak of them, and fewer still have lived having seen any of them. Even Thanos has proved himself more merciful, though his mercy often has secondary motivations, even if it is just his own amusement. Currently, the Sanctuary base is constructing a massive starship for Thanos and the Black Order to begin a war that will stretch across all of space: an Infinity War.

Nebula, one of Thanos' "children" who has turned against him, is fighting the Black Order with her pirates, but has yet to do anything to warrant Thanos' attention despite her best efforts, instead only encountering Corvus Glaive, Thanos' right-hand lieutenant, from a distance.

Current Roster:

Leader: Thanos (NPC/unavailble)
Corvus Glaive (NPC/unavailable)
Ebony Maw (NPC/unavailable)
Proxima Midnight (NPC/unavailable)

Former Members:
Gamora (now part of the Guardians of the Galaxy) [available; not able to rejoin The Black Order]
Nebula (now an unaffiliated character) [NPC/Unavailble]

Notes:

This is currently an NPC-only faction that is not possible to join or play any characters in.
